We’re excited to announce that in preparation for our big move into the Penarth Pier Pavilion when it opens later this year, we’re taking up temporary residence at the Pavilion Information Centre on the Esplanade.
Building and restoration work on the Pavilion is well underway and as well as our exhibitions and education programme, the Pavilion will be home to a much wider range of community activities and events. Facilities at the Pavilion will include the main auditorium and smaller function rooms, an education centre, café and restaurant as well as a lecture theatre and cinema.
Unfortunately this means that the Washington Gallery will close on Friday 22nd March. We’re sorry to be leaving the building that we have occupied for the last ten years but are looking forward to moving into what we know will be a landmark resource for both Penarth and the wider community.
The new director at the Pavilion is Dr David Trotman who has lived in Penarth since 1974 and has considerable experience in marketing and fundraising. He has spent the last twelve years working for the RSPB as their head of marketing. David looks forward to the Pavilion being used and enjoyed by not only local community groups, individuals and organisations but also the wider South Wales community.
You can still contact us on the Washington Gallery telephone number 029 2071 2100 and we are currently building a new website for the Pavilion but in the meantime you can follow us on Twitter to keep up to date with the latest developments.
