Carolyn Merrifield’s paintings are all based on the human figure, and she is fascinated by faces old and young. Her paintings are inspired by the American watercolour artist Charles Reid and the Welsh artist for the WNO, John MacFarlane. She works mainly with watercolours which are loose and colourful, although also using oils for more formal portraits. The subjects are generally friends and family or inspired by her holidays..
