Dominic Gubb has lived and worked in Wales since studying sculpture in London in 1990.
His work has always tried to unlock the promise of reclaimed materials; these have historically been with classic sculpting materials such as wood, stone and metal.
Recent work has developed from experimenting with recycled plastic as a sculpting material, taking the discarded and the devalued and gently altering its appearance and purpose.
This figurative body of work shows a passion for form and a desire to challenge the potential of this material. The sculptures often embrace wit and humour to ignite responses about the familiar seen in an unexpected way.
