Jane Rhodes: Celtic Enigmas
1st – 24th June 2007
Upper Gallery

Jane Rhodes lives in the Wye valley, South Wales, but has a particular affiliation with the Irish landscape, specifically the Connemara peat bogs, an interest initiated by her long term mentor and tutor, artist Kenneth Webb.

Jane’s highly graphic, geometric forms offer a depiction of the Irish landscape developed through keen observation and a methodical approach - her strong abstract scenes, are only completed after months of intense work including full tonal studies.

It is hoped that this exhibition will act as a prelude for a touring exhibition in Kilkenny in 2009, looking at the link between Celtic depictions of the ‘homeland’. This exhibition is funded by the Arts Council of Wales
