A Storytelling and Book making project to be held at Llandough Primary School Speech and Language Unit by Penarth Arts and Crafts Ltd.
From Monday 5th - Friday 16th November 2007 published American storyteller, Susie Wilde and local fine artist, Heloise Godfrey, will be resident in Llandough Primary School Speech and Language Unit.
All of the children who attend Llandough Primary School Speech and Language Unit have a disability. Every child has a statement of special educational needs for specific speech and language impairment. For these children with language and speech difficulties, stories form the basis for all learning experiences. Tales help with the development of vocabulary and new ideas.
In addition to the workshops there will be a grand event in the Washington Gallery on Saturday 24th November 2007. An exhibition in the Gallery of the children’s Fine Art work and writing will promote the children’s self-evaluation and self-esteem. ‘The Tall Tale’ will expand personal horizons and enthuse the young people with a desire to learn and explore creatively.
This project is funded by PACL, Help a South Child and the Arts Council of Wales.
